Organizations should make sure that programs are aligned with goals

Projects are part of programs and portfolios, and programs are part of portfolios.

In fact, a program is a group of related projects that have the same benefit and strategic goal.

Each project inside, or outside, a program creates a unique product, service or a result.

To be successful organizations should constantly make sure that programs and projects are aligned with the organization’s overarching goals.

Organizations can use project portfolio management to effectively manage multiple projects and programs.

In fact, project and program plans should communicate clearly to enable effective decision-making within the portfolio.

Keep in mind: although projects, programs and portfolios are different, to become effective organizations should manage them as one.
