Projects Portfolio Management (PPM) goes beyond planning and control of approved projects

PPM integrates traditional project management and business functions. It is the set of processes which are usually supported by software tools.

It is important that projects that are in the portfolio are aligned with the firm’s strategy, objectives, culture and values.

These projects have to produce positive cash flow and effectively use the resources of the company.

PPM is basically the management of the project portfolio. It has the objective to maximize the contribution of projects to the overall success of the company.

Keep in mind: PPM is not simply the management of multiple projects but it is the management of the project portfolio by using clear and well defined processes.
